Raising Awareness for Mental Health

Raising Awareness for Mental Health

Celebrated in May, Mental Health Awareness Month, raises awareness around the stigma of mental health and treatment that has long existed.

Although the stigma surrounding this conversation has started to change, people still hesitate to seek help or talk about how they're feeling for fear of being judged, even with their loved ones.

In life, when we are physically hurt, we must seek treatment to get better. This also applies to our mental well-being.

About Mental Health Month

Mental Health Month raises awareness of trauma and the impact it can have on the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of children, families, and communities.

Mental Health Month was established in 1949 to increase awareness of the importance of mental health and wellness in Americans' lives, and to celebrate recovery from mental illness.

Why Mental Health is Important

Mental health is essential for a person's overall health at every stage of life. It includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being, which affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps sort through how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices.

Positive mental health allows people to:

  • Realize their full potential
  • Cope with the stresses of life
  • Work productively
  • Make meaningful contributions to their communities

Ways to Improve Your Mental Health

Poor mental health is a much more widespread problem than many people realize. It can affect anyone, at any time in their life.

Your lifestyle is the most important thing, that you can control, to ensure optimal well being. Small things like sleep, physical activity and diet (The "Big Three") can play a bigger role in your mental health than you might imagine.

Here are some practical, un-costly changes, that you can make to look after your mental well-being.

Get Some Sleep

Good, quality sleep is the most beneficial at improving your mental health and wellbeing. Prioritizing your sleep schedule is of utmost importance. People who get too many or too little hours of sleep are more likely to feel symptoms of depressionA couple of ways that you can improve your quality of sleep is creating a daily wind down routine and cutting out screen time before going to bed.

Get Physical

Broaden your idea of what you think exercise is! You don't have to be an athlete or  a big gym- goer to enjoy exercise. Think of physical activity as "me time". Gardening, washing your car, taking your dog for a stroll - any physical activity that gets you up and off of the couch is a good way to improve your mood!

Eat Well

Most of the foods we eat are processed and highly addictive. They stimulate the dopamine centers in our brain, which only make us want more. To change the physiology in the brain, we have to stop eating these foods in order to stop craving them. A poor diet leads to fatigue, impaired decision-making, can slow down our reaction time, make people more agitated and may lead to stress and depression.

Keep In Touch

Staying active socially can keep you grounded. Whether you have strong family ties or really supportive friends, they can help you deal with the stresses of life. Friends and family can make you feel included and cared for! They can also offer different views from whatever’s going on inside your own head, possibly solving practical problems that may seem at large.

Drink Less (Alcohol)

We often drink alcohol to change our mood, but some often drink to deal with fear or loneliness. Occasional light drinking is enjoyable for most people, but over time we would need more and more alcohol to feel the same short-term boost. Drinking is not a good way to manage difficult feelings.

Take a Break

Taking a break may mean different things to different people. For some it may mean being very active; hiking, swimming, biking. For others, it may mean not doing very much at all. Listen to your body. If you’re really tired, give yourself time to relax (or just sleep). The world can wait.

Drip IV is Giving Wellness

This month, give the gift of wellness to your peers, your friends and your family. Staying mentally healthy is just as important as your physical health.

Originally, vitamin infusions were used to treat illnesses and severe vitamin deficiencies. Today, IV Therapy, like NAD+, has become more popular in reducing stress, boosting your mood, boosting immunity, rehydrating the body, and simply giving a boost of energy.

Our bodies engage with many stressors daily. What better way to practice self-care than with Vitamin infusions?

Silverseed CBD products are now available to purchase here at Drip IV Therapies. Silverseed leads from a functional health approach and not solely pushing their product to the public and claiming that it is a cure all. They focus on understanding customer’s problems, what they’ve tried in the past, and learning more about their lifestyle and health history.

Most customers are looking to try CBD to help with sleep, pain, anxietydepression, joint discomfort, or inflammation. Silverseed serves anyone looking to discover whether CBD is the right product for them, given their symptoms or health problems in their current season of life.
